Topic: Executive makes "a power grab of unprecedented magnitude"
http://apnews.excite.com/article/20020915/D7M2FDA01.html anyone scared? this department will ONLY be responsible to Bush ALONE. forget the CIA, at least congress can have oversight hearings with them. Bush will have his own KGB. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'RE JUST WORRIED ABOUT THE EFFECTS ON LABOR UNIONS.
don't forget PR's affect. the public have been made to need Homeland Sec. to feel secure by all the previous hype thus far about it. if the pres. threatens to veto, congress will look bad for stalling the bill that makes the thing that "protects america"
THE BILL AS IT STANDS NOW and was passed by the repub. house is what the senate is trying to change so bush DOESN'T have complete power. But Bush says he'd veto a CHANGED bill. congress will have to give him what he's made the public need.
