Here's what I'm most pleased about in this election:

Record voter turnout!

Minimal hints of electoral fraud.

News hesitant to declare premature victory.

Republican states willing to elect qualified Democrats and vice versa.

Several major races where incumbents lost to challengers who had less than half of the advertizing money.

Heavily Democratic strongholds willing to punish Democratic candidates who overused race-baiting (Maryland) or pulled sleight-of-hand rhetoric to obfuscate and distract (MA).

Republicans generally unwilling to play the deceptive and unfair "patriotism" card to marginalize anti-war Democratic candidates.

Democrats no longer inclined to use scorched earth tactics to destroy the potential effectiveness of winning GOP candidates.

Democratic candidates using George Bush as a reference.

Thank you Paercival. Turns out I was wrong about the Patriotism ... I just found out about how one Republican candidate used that dispicably against a war veteran incumbent ... I am sorry to hear that voters rewarded his callumny.
