Toronto Star Corrects: Bruce Willis Never Boycotted Israel

quote:
On May 8, in an article about Stephen Hawking's decision to boycott Israel, environment reporter Raveena Aulakh incorrectly reported:

Celebrities from around the world have refused to perform in Israel in recent years as part of an effort to promote the Palestinian cause, including musicians Elvis Costello and Stevie Wonder, and Hollywood actors Bruce Willis and Meg Ryan.

The Toronto star correction (see this link for the full story) shows how easy it is for reporters to be mislead into making the wrong assumptions by organizations that are trying to promote the boycott by creating false impressions.

They made a mistake. If Willis doesn't want to join the boycott, they shouldn't have used his name, period.

The Toronto Star made an honest mistake and corrected it.
Their source on the other hand - that's a different story. If they cared about truth, they would be careful not to mention someone like Willis who supports Israel and opposes terrorists like Hamas and Hizbullah. But they do not care about the truth all they care about is fanning up the flames and starting boycotts that hurt honest people on both sides.

We've been over this, of course, but I'll just restate that I disagree that the boycott hurts both sides. So far, it hasn't really even hurt Israel.

Obviously, not supporting Israel does not mean that you support terrorists.

Not supporting Israel does not mean that you support terrorists. Opposing Israel, on the other hand, in the current situation, does.

Opposing Israel in what? Anything? That statement might be true if you oppose Israel and hope for their defeat when they're fighting terrorists; it is not true if you oppose them building settlements on contested land, or their influence on the US, or some of the more morally dubious tactics they use to squeeze the Palestinians.

I'm saying this just to say it, I know you think building settlements is great, the Palestinians are treated better then they deserve, and Israel has absolutely no influence in the States.

Ok, so it''s no surprise that Bruce Willis who is famous for "fighting terrorists" on screen would see through the deception of BDS.

What about the author of "how many years must a people exist before they are allowed to be free"?
Where does he stand on the question of Israel and Palestine?

Well, this seems to give a good indication of how BDS has succeeded with recruiting him for the so called "noble" cause.
