Bloggers Force Retirement of 73-Year-Old Newsman

(2004-11-24) -- The blogosphere, an ad hoc network of news commentary web journals created by pajama-clad scribes who write so well they don't need editors, claimed another triumph this week, forcing the retirement of Dan Rather, a 73-year-old news anchor whose show ranked a distant third in a field of three.

"We have put the MSM [main stream media] on notice," wrote one unnamed blogger. "If we can do this to a septuagenarian at the sunset of his career, who can withstand our withering firepower?"

The official unnamed spokesman for the blogosphere said the next target for "Operation Early Retirement" is 86-year-old CBS correspondent Mike Wallace.

Pajamahadeen are triumphant!!!

BTW, shouldn't Scrappleface have put the word Newsman in scare quotes like this: "Newsman".

That's how Reuters does it with the word "terrorist" so I thought it'd be appropriate. After all, one man's biased criminal employee of a major news organization is another man's "Newsman".

To quote Moe Szyslak, Homer's bartender:
"Call this an unfair generalization if you must, but old people are no good at everything."

The bloggers are taking credit for Rather's retirement huh? Interesting.

Must be very annoying to have your mistakes rubbed in your face and be publically ridiculed for acting on bad information provided by others.

Um, who were we talking about again?

In all honesty the bloggers probbaly brought about the downfall of Dan Rathers. 10 years ago Dan would of showed his story, drew some fire from a few conservatives and that would be it. The relentless fact checking machine did not let Dan Rather off the hook.

One less biased liberal "reporting" the news is a good thing!
