A three-year hiatus. Another food consumption unit added to the family. Teaching Kindergarten and first grade now. Still in Texas. Still wrong, apparently.

What part of Texas Roper? I'm in League City.

I was in Florida at a trade show and was bored after packing up and was watching the guys pack up the booths and stuff and that left these ten foot poles sticking up all over the place so I fashioned a lasso out of a ten foot piece of twine rope we had been using for something (we had horses growing up) and from about six feet away twirled the rope around my head, let fly and lassoed one of the poles on my first try. Total luck. And totally amazing my Israeli Boston based owner of the company. I played it cool and told him everybody in Texas could do that. [Smile]

"Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about..." (or at least you should have) [Smile] .

League City, KE? That means you're probably headed up I-45 towards me whenever there's a hurricane headed for the gulf. If you ever need a place to stay, I'm in Fort Worth. And no, I can't lasso anything. Probably because I was born in Idaho. But I got here as fast as I could! Not really, the Air Force brought me here. We decided to stay when I got out.

Hi, I'm Chad Mitchell. Over there's Bobby Zimmerman, and behind him, Dick and Tom Smothers, Peter, Paul, & Mary, and way in the background, Crosby, Stills, & Nash.

Say hi y'all.

Made me flash back to me young aunts-uncles/older brother's record collections.

Me, I want folk music, I;ma get me a copy of the Bartok-Kodaly Transylvannian Alps collections from the 1920s.

Hey all, you can call me Seer, I'm from Rio Rancho, go to Rio Rancho High School, and the president's comming to have a "town hall" meeting in my gym. So security's everywhere, roads are closed, phones are tapped, internet's down, and someone got arrested and is in jail for saying something stupid like, "Wouldn't it be hilarious if the school got attacked tomorrow?", but we are still having classes because Education is Important.

Apparently Obama's going to speak on credit card debt. There should be a live feed (although how they are going to do that with the network down I do not know) in all classrooms, so maybe I'll start a thread afterwards about what he said.

this:

quote:

There is roughly $5,000 dollars in circulation for every person in the US, while most of us produce much more goods/services than that per year (my dad makes X per year) and then some of us produce MUCH more than this per year. An example of an superproducer of a good is Rush Limbaugh, who currently earns $50 Million dollars per year. This means that Rush is removing all the available currency for himself (or in other words creating a severe competitive hardship) which was intended for him and 9,999 other people, such that those other people will have no ability whatsoever to be remunerated for their goods and services this year.

I'm sure Rush doesn't really want to do that. That's a lot of Americans to starve to death.

Yes, the Stimulus is going to inject currency to assist in that, but what is the long-term permanent solution to inject currency sufficient for our production forever?

How can we feel comfortable producing the next boom, if the FOMC will plot our destruction- aka a "bust"- by failing to inject currency again?

it is THE question of the day, I assure you. print it, read it, and that q will be on the TV, where it should be.

In December. This should be it for us too. We keep saying that and always end up with another kid. So I guess we will see if it holds true this time. And Ive heard the joke, " you know there are ways to prevent that right? " about a million times. And yes. I know.

I joined this site before I married Aubrey. Not that I'm sure why I think this fact is relevant, or more importantly, why it would be a good idea to mention it now, in particular.

I’m not sure who is expected to post here, but I’m willing to risk the punishment for being in the wrong place. I am 61, happily married with six grandchildren. I have three college degrees and I am five credit hours and a dissertation away from a doctorate—which I don’t intend to complete, because I am retired. I voted for Bob Barr, the Libertarian in the last election. I voted for Jimmy Carter, the last Democrat I think I will ever vote for. I am a Presbyterian and I believe in predestination and free will but I see those are at odds and they are not useful things to believe in. My stepson has a Presbyterian theological education, but he is ordained as a Messianic Jewish Rabi. I mention him because I have a lot of respect and pride for him. I am retired from both the Air Force and from teaching. I was in aircraft maintenance for 24 years, both as enlisted and as officer. I was a private pilot until I sold my plane. I used to teach at a career center, in the '90s. After that, I taught middle school. I have also taught college courses part-time for The University of Maryland, Central Texas College (over seas), and Greenville Tech, SC. Most recently, 2007, I taught 9th and 10th grade geography and world history.
