PTI today reported that he will be in camp after all. Of course, this is the smart move, seeing as how he would be fined almost $10,000 for every day he didn't show up, and the whole fight was over money. Of course his agent said that this decision was not final, but who gives a crap what that bastard says.

By the way, TO did show up for camp yesterday, and for the first time in his life didn't talk to the media [Eek!]

Of course, then Westbrook and Cory Simon didn't show up, but what's Philly sports without the angst, eh? [Roll Eyes]

I thought Westbrook was cool? Cory Simon doesn't surprise me, and honestly doesn't concern me as much. Damn, it's a lot harder to track this stuff when the local news doesn't cover it anymore. I'm going to have to start making daily checks of Philly news online now.

Don't worry, I'll keep you updated. [Wink]

Westbrook signed a one-year contract for around $1.3 mil, but he wanted a long-term deal. He said that he wasn't going to hold out, so I'm surprised he didn't show up. Personally I think the Eagles should lock him down for 5 years. It wouldn't be "giving in" like it would be with TO, as TO already has a contract for the longterm. Come on, aupton, what's up with you 'Nova boys?

I agree with you about Westbrook. I think they're concerned because they can't really pound the ball with him, and that might be something they need to do in the future. But he's a great playmaker, and probably more loyal to a Philly team than T.O. is (sorry, I didn't really need to put "probably" in that sentence). Westbrook doesn't change the game unless they have a receiver who takes some pressure off of him...not necessarily a T.O. quality guy, but somebody who deserves on occasional double-team. I'd still give him top-5 RB money though. They're going to have a solid team for a few years, but the rest of the NFC will start catching up soon.

Why the hell didn't philly enter the race for Travis Henry? He's a pounder, and him and Westbrook would give Philly a hugely verstaile backfield. Then again, he fumbles.

The price was probably too high for them. I think they'd like to get somebody in the same realm as Dorsey Levens (though it wouldn't hurt to get a little younger). If Eddie George wasn't such a health risk I'd suggest him, but you know what I mean...somebody who can get three or four yards a carry, and get them straight ahead.

Westbrook has reported to camp, all's right with the world.

Further Eagles camp news, Pinkston ruptured his Achilles and is done for the season. With Mitchell gone, this gives Lewis a chance to finally step up. With McNabb, Westbrook, and TO on one team, it really shouldn't be so hard for a second receiver to make a name for himself, but that has yet to happen thus far. Let's hope that turns around this year.

I like Greg Lewis a lot. He can catch the ball. I won't mind picking him up late in the draft, now that he's fimly ensconsed as #2.

I think he was suspended from camp for a week, which would shed a better light on his leaving.

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing now. The post yesterday was right after the news first broke and no one knew exactly what was happening. Still, this is bad. Pinkston's hurt, Mitchell's gone and know they're suspending TO. Who is going to be their receiving core, Billy McMullen and Greg Lewis? Are they going to spread Westbrook wide on every play?

On all the talk shows, everyone is saying, "get rid of him now", but the fact is, WE CAN'T!!! We can't cut him and there's no plausible trade option (don't say Peerless Price, that would be pathetic). I'm so mad that Andy Reid let himself get drawn into this childish fight. Why is he trying to reason with a 4-year old? Let him pout, let him go practice by himself, let him skip autograph sessions. It doesn't matter. When the games roll around, TO will play, and he'll play his hardest, because it's in his own best interest and he understands this. So stop dancing to his tune during training camp and just wait for the season to start.

To borrow a phrase from another Philly sports star, "We talkin' about PRACTICE!" Don't create such a big deal about it.

Just saw on the crawler on the morning news that Rush Limbaugh has offered to play peacemaker between TO and Donovan McNabb.

Hee, hee, hee.

Yeah, it's the 49ers, but T.O. and Donovan seem to be getting along okay for now...and nobody threw a big hissy fit when they lost last week. Maybe everything really will be okay??????

They're getting along on the field, which is all anyone has a right to ask. Contract don't say they gotta go fishing together. They hooked up last week too. Once he steps on the field, T.O. is a consumate pro (and no, I don't think the stunts take away from that.) Unlike Randy, he plays every down and isn't above blocking when he needs to. I'll never forget the block he threw, what, 4 years ago on a Garrison Hearst or Kevan Barlow TD run.

Ricky --

You might check a couple of the latest cnnsi.com columns on T.O (I think Doc Z ripped him). He won't dog it as much as Moss, but I wouldn't say T.O is always going all out.

Well, TO is suspended and selling his house after ripping the team and Donovan McNabb.

I'm shocked. [Smile]

I'm in a fetal position. [Frown]

He was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. I, however, am of the opinion that benching him is conduct detrimental to the team. Especially if you're going to run 60 pass plays in the game!

Well, his ankle was pretty bad this week anyway. Maybe they'll make nice and lift the suspension. But they had to send a message, you can't let a player get away with calling the club classless and everything else he's been spouting.

Sure you can! As long as he goes out on the field, catches 6 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, he can say whatever he wants!

The guy's an a-hole. You just don't say these things about your QB. His talk about the team and his 100th TD was still within limits, but not ripping Donovan.

I'm sorry for this grundle...

I for one am ready to call the experiment failed, see what we can do without him this year, and trade him to an AFC team with a terrible quarterback for him to rip...maybe Cleveland. In exchange I'd be willing to take nearly nobody, so long as the Eagles can save some salary cap space for a not quite as good, but also less combative free agent receiver (which is basically every other receiver in the league with the possible exception of Moss). Right now I'd trade the guy for tickets to the Icecapades!

There's other good news.

A jerk got whats coming to him.

I hate the attitude a lot of athletes have that they are bigger then the team or the game. No you aren't. Respect your teammates, respect the game, play with some class and dignity. Its not hard.

I don't really care about TO one way or the other, but the old fashioned part of me likes that the Eagles are suspending him for the remainder of the season.

No one's more important than the team, TO. Remember that.

Edited to add: As a side note, kudos to Drake for having the prescience to spot a real soap opera early in the making. [Smile]

Oh, please. That's like saying I have the prescience to know that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. [Wink] Everyone knew this wasn't going to work. The only people who thought it had a chance were just really, really hoping (i.e. me!). It matters not. We still have Peter Forsberg, although that's a different sport.
