Americans always jump to extremes. We've had the most successful and one of the most heavily challenged airport and aircraft security systems in the world. What the TSA do sounds worse than what airport security here does to Arabs, which is pretty bad at times. The vast majority of fliers here never endure the TSA crap I'm reading about.

I've certainly never endured the worst TSA crap, but I've been the victim of their capriciousness and ill attitude several times. And been forced to suck up and take it because any feedback will result in a missed flight in the best case.
Furthermore, I've had my 88 year old psuedo-grandma, wanded down by two security agents after failing the metal detector. My grandfather told them ahead of time she had a replacement hip. So then (just to be sure) they stuck her in a plexiglass booth in the middle of the security zone, refused to let anyone else stay with her and waited 10 minutes for a female agent to come for a full pat down. She was sobbing in tears half way through the ordeal and when my grandfather tried to go back over to comfort her the security agents snarled at him and threatened to arrest them.
TSA is already full of arrogant goons and the whole organization is less than 10 years old. I can't imagine what it will become with unionization as the you can't fire me mentality takes hold and another 20 years of bureaucratic inertia sets in.

Who knows, maybe they'll actually be able to stand up to some of the crap rather than being forced to do whatever comes down the pipe or lose their jobs.
