Can't read the article, either, but FiveThirtyEight had an interesting article (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/media-bubbles-arent-the-biggest-reason-were-partisans/) arguing that, while we may primarily get our information from biased sources, we are also exposed to opposing views through our friends.  Unfortunately, this can be as much, if not more, polarizing that the media.
