anti mask nutbags

A private business reserves the right to serve or not serve any member of the public, with limited restrictions. Am I within my rights if i knock a body out with a hot uppercut?

Is it allowed if you keep 6 ft distance. If by hot you mean by convection then it is ok.

I'm not a violent person. I've tolerated no maskers. As much as I think they are terrible people who will not keep our fellow citizens safe. If they deliberately and belligerently come up to me, and I give them fair warning, am I morally right to knock them out? I understand I am legally in the wrong.

Not if you have other options, no.

To play devils advocate.  I'm curious if 'stand your ground' doctrine would apply.  You are in reasonable fear for your life, their approach is a  threat to your life.  Why shouldn't fear of a biological attack be any less valid than other forms of attack?

I believe there are legal rulings, related to HIV infection, that state that if an individual is purposely coughing on you, and you are aware that they are infected with a potentially deadly pathogen, and they are aware as well, that this constitutes assault and that an individual has the right to protect themselves.

I imagine that it matters a great deal if the victim was left with no other alternative than violence.

In some states with stand your ground there is no duty to retreat though.  The whole point is to allow you to use violence even if you had the alternative of retreating.

Incidentally a SYG defense for shoving someone out of an elevator was successful in an assault charge

Interesting.  I'd like to see the venn diagram of the people who would shoot someone with a handgun, or even hit them, because someone was coughing on them, and use the SYG defense, and the people who wouldn't wear a mask and start screaming at somebody at the entrance of Costco that it was against their constitutional rights.

You probably first need to start with a venn diagram of people who own handguns in the first place, compared to people who are very concerned about COVID.

Probably zero overlap there.  So I'll have to switch the sets to those who own handguns and those who are very concerned about the infringement upon their constitutional rights that being forced to wear a mask in COSTCO represents.
