All the above examples are for Republican candidates, but apparently some Democrats are doing the same thing when it comes to lying or making up polling results to induce fear and get more money.  Nate Silver complaining this morning personally.  At least the Republicans just use fantasy polls and don't drop names.  Apparently Dems have no problem name dropping 538.

Quote
There's been around a dozen times this cycle where Democrats straight up lied about 538 forecasts.  Personally I'd donate money to charity or to local races before I gave to lying Congressional candidates.

Good to know there is still lying on both sides to get money and votes.

On an ordered scale, in your own opinion, how "un-American" are the following systems:

A. Communism
B.  Socialism
C. Theocracy
D. Monarchy
E. Aristocracy
F. Fascism
G. Nationalism
H. Dictatorship
I. Direct Democracy

MTG is back to the top of the list.  If/when the Republicans take back the House she thinks they should investigate all of the corporations that stopped donating to Republicans who supported the Jan 6 rioters.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/marjorie-taylor-greene-says-gop-103731242.html

So companies doing what they want, for what ever reason, is reason enough to be investigated?  For what? What crime did they commit?  Sure sounds like the thought police to me.

The GOP may be nutbags but dang the DEM's are masters at shooting themselves in the foot for no reasons.
One thing you have to say for the nutgags, they know who feeds them.

Greene made a mistake urging investigations of corporations who stopped donating to GOP causes. Of course, the biased media probably nit-picked the issue to make her look bad and missed the issue she was concerned with.

In general, it's not attacking the GOP directly - it's allowing the Dems to get away with disreputable and illegal actions without concern of being cited for it by their pet newsies.

In today's news, we see Marco Rubio had a young canvasser, Chris Monzon, attacked in Dade County. At first the media ignored the hate crime aspect: According to the South Florida news outlet:

Quote
According to the South Florida news outlet: According to the suspects’ arrest reports, Lopez “rushed the victim and threw him on the ground.” Police said Casanova then “began to kick the victim on the head as he was on the ground” as Lopez began punching the victim. According to authorities, a witness eventually pulled Casanova away from the victim, who then walked to his white Mercedes-Benz SUV, where he released two German Shepherds and walked them toward the victim, who was still on the ground. Casanova’s arrest report states that he then ordered his dogs to attack and bite the victim."

[What is missing? The reason for the attack.]

"Monzon was reportedly canvassing a neighborhood on behalf of the Rubio and DeSantis campaigns. Wearing a campaign shirt for the former and a hat for the latter, he was handing out flyers when two assailants reportedly blocked his path.

“Police said while the victim was handing out flyers, the two suspects were blocking the sidewalk and Casanova told him ‘he couldn’t pass through because he was a Republican and his dogs were ready to attack,.”

"Incredibly, it was initially reported that there was no indication the attack was politically driven. But a light investigation into the arrest report revealed how Casanova allegedly told Monzon that he could not pass by because he was a Republican.

...“Yahoo! News jumped straight to attacks on the victim, calling him a notorious white supremacist in their headline. A white supremacist can now be defined as anyone, no matter what color, who speaks out against the leftist narrative...”

It ia the shaping of the narrative that is so dangerous. Yes, Greene has the right idea - but it is too little, too late.

Not a politician but still probably a Trump supporter kills neighbor because he thinks he is a Democrat.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ohio-man-kills-neighbor-because-204600966.html

This relates to stochastic terrorism

https://www.yahoo.com/news/stochastic-terrorism-appears-rise-globally-215511882.html

We know attacks will happen, just not specifics.

Sound familiar? Trump and the MAGA people are pushing this stuff and things like this happen. They use aggressive words like fight and take back etc and then act surprised (not really) when someone who may not be all right mentally, does what they said to do.

Matt Gaetz thinks Trump should be Speaker of the House. Then they can impeach Biden and Harris and then Trump is President again.

Really? Does he even think things like this through?  Obviously pandering to his base.

Trump thinks we need to get rid of the Constitution since he lost and thinks the election was stolen.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ex-federal-prosecutor-elie-honig-195520539.html

Even if the story was suppressed, the election was fair. Who was in charge of the DOJ and the FBI at the time? Oh, yeah, the Trump Admin.

From the article you linked.
Quote
Investigators aren't sure if there is a tie between the substation damage and a drag show at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines that sparked a lot of controversy in the area.

"We don't have anything. No motivation and no group has stepped up to acknowledge or accept what has been done.

Clearly that article isn't the source for your claim.  How did you determine who the perpetrators are and what their motivation was?

Emily Grace Rainey, a former U.S. Army psychological operations officer, made several posts about it on social media, even saying in one post: “The power is out in Moore County and I know why."

The local nut jobs are claiming they know why. Not a huge stretch to believe them. She’s a former army officer because of her participation in the January 6 protests.

Even before I read the article I had the sense that she wasn't saying that she knew why the power was out because she did it or actually knew the humans who did but instead she knew why the power was out because God did it and she knows God. And sure enough in the article:

"Rainey posted that she told deputies, "God works in mysterious ways ... I used the opportunity to tell them about the immoral drag show and the blasphemies screamed by its supporters.”

----------------------------------------

I suppose there's a chance that Democrats' dreams come true and some right wingers did it to protest the show but there's also still a chance that it was somebody else. I wouldn't put too much stock into her "confession".

Attack on infrastructure. "The power is out and I know why."  Sounds suspicious. Maybe she's just a nutbag for implying she knows something or is happy about an attack on infrastructure and cutting off electricity to a large number of people, schools, and businesses in cold weather. Something tells me God doesn't use rifles. If God wanted the power out God could send lightning. Its a crap attitude. Someone attacked our infrastructure and her response is "I'm happy about it and I know why". Don't be shocked when people assume her and her ilk are to blame for the attack.

I got it from the right wing nut job who said she "Knew why the power was out." She had been making a commotion about the show on social media before hand. Attack knocks out the power. She says "I know why." She denies doing it. But I know God didn't fire a rifle into multiple substations. So much more likely to believe that she has some insight into who did it. There isn't a competing motivation or theory at this point. I could be wrong. But it is absolutely the most likely theory being pursued by law enforcement at the moment.

My original statement was too definitive. But this is the most likely motivation for the attack. Timing, location, social media activity before and after the attack on the right all are evidence of this being the motive.

No, I am asking why you need more evidence for some small local issue than you do for a national figure to claim our entire election system is a fraud and a sham and that sections of the Constitution need removed so he can be made President?

It's all over social media because a right wing nut job implied that other right wing nut jobs were responsible. I'm hoping there was some non-political reason to shoot up power stations but so far we only have one piece of evidence about motivation.

I gave you the quote where I got this idea from. She was the first person the local sheriff went to because she said "I know why." I'm not on twitter or Facebook, so I wasn't getting it from there. I got it from the local news articles that talked about her because she f-ing claimed to know why the attack happened immediately. You don't want people to think you had something to do with the power going out due to an attack on infrastructure don't make statements that are close to claiming responsibility for them.

Honestly almost as troubling to me is that the local sheriff, upon hearing her brag, decided to swing by her house for a moment of "shared prayer" and subsequently concluded that she didn't know anything about the terrorists.

You mean this one, where she says if she and Bannon had been in charge of Jan 6 it would have succeeded?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/marjorie-taylor-greene-capitol-attack-144634447.html

The only reason the Jan 6 people did not win is that they were not armed? Really? Oathkeepers did not go through metal detectors due to the fact they had guns.

If the rioters had used guns, it would have been a bloodbath, but then the election probably would not have been certified and Trump could have declared martial law. So a win for them, I guess?  If all it takes is dozens of dead protestors, cop and Congress people, that is a small price to pay to keep Trump in charge.

Whilst I really doubt that I agree with her on anything, in this case you are mischaracterising her remark. Taking the remark in a bit of context it is clear that she is poo-poohing the suggestion that she and Banon organised it - to rephrase "Of course we didn't do that - if we had it would have worked." That statement doesn't require her to support the actions of the mob to be true. (Though to be honest I really doubt the bit where her planning would make anything work better.)

Dress codes for women in the state House in MO.

Sounds a bit Talbany doesn't it?  Maybe they will required head scarves soon and the women must make sure that their ankles do not show so as not to temp the maie members.

Clearly hyperbole doesn't belong to just one side, equating a shawl with the systemic oppression of Afghan women.

Personally I don't really understand why you can't legislate wearing shorts and a tank top, barefoot. The tech and most of the business world figured out that suits and ties, with or without lapel pins, weren't really necessary and neither were hats. Is it surprising that the party stuck in the past would be the holdouts for an outdated dress code?

Have you ever been in a managerial position and attended a "dress for success" workshop? You can wear shorts and a T-shirt if you want, but the odds are you will be overlooked for your next promotion. The goal is to best empower your workmanship and acceptance. Dressing down can ruin a person's authority, acceptance, and competency. "If it feels good - do it," is not always your best advice.

Have you met the world's richest man, Elon Musk? Tell him about your dress code and its relationship to success. I'll promote the person on my team that writes the best code, not the one who has nicely pressed slacks. Similarly, I'll vote for a lawmaker who represents me and gets things done, and I don't give even one damn about what they are wearing or what they had for breakfast, even if it is the most important meal of the day. Otherwise you are a lousy leader, if you care about appearance more than results, and I wouldn't want to work for you anyway.

Odd, then, that dressing up should be required, since if dressing down actually hurts an elected official's career it would be unnecessary to ban it.

Not really a nut bag.

When Trump owned the hotel in DC Republicans said they used it due to convenience.

Since he sold it they have barely used it. I guess with out a Trump name on it, it is not nearly as convenient.

Well it looks like NM GOP leaders knew about some of his issues and still supported him.

I'm guessing that they just wanted a disposable candidate since they knew they were going to loose and didn't recon that there would be any particular press attention on a candidate that lost in a seat which was always going to be lost.  Its only 'cos he then went properly crazy that any of this has been found. I'll bet that both sides field questionable candidates in seats they have no chance in, though a little bit more due diligence in this would have been good.

The definition of integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.
