Well... I didn't see that coming!

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/29/us/oregon-bundy-verdict-wildlife-refuge.html

Sorry, didn't see the old thread to post this as an update.

I saw the headline yesterday, have no idea what went on in the trial and how they got there, but you have to suspect that the jury just decided not to follow the law.

This might be a better thread to title "Most bizarre twist ever".

They must have gotten a jury of their sovereign citizen peers.

Conspiracy to impede federal officers and gun charges : acquitted
Theft of government property : hung, I believe

google "charges against bundy", most articles have descriptions

This indictment article has more detail.

Idiot prosecution.  Correct verdicts on stupid charges.

Correct charges should have been criminal trespassing, Vandalism, Reckless endangerment.

" most onlookers blamed prosecutorial overreach — that the government stretched its case too far to fit the events at the refuge "

Ironically this verdict does indirectly relate to race. Feds overcharged these perps because they were white (and because of the drooling sadists screaming and dissapointed that the Feds hadn't gone in guns blazing like Ruby Ridge), and jury tossed it because crime obviously did not fit the charges.
