Except it wasn't really a lie, Fenring. Aris' exact quote is:
This from the same guy who bragged about grabbing women by the pussy.
Come on, be honest and don't quibble about whether you could theoretically parse this in some obscure way. He's saying this in the way everyone says it to slam trump. He said Trump bragged about grabbing women and that's exactly what he meant, just like I see it stated just like that as a fact on my social media repeatedly. It's a lie, full stop.
He said nothing about "being able to walk down a public street and grab a random woman." So that part is an exaggeration, at least as far as Aris' statement goes.
The lie is the claim that Trump not only admitted to doing this but bragged about it. It is
a very serious lie. It's like the equivalent of the distinction between saying Bill slept with Monica and cheated on his wife, versus he raped Monica. Those are not the same thing, even though the commonality between them is that we might find them both objectionable. We both know what happens with Trump, and even if you hate him you have to admit it: people think he's despicable, and the exact detailing of what he's done is far less important than what a dirtbag he is. So he bragged about it, he did it, big dif.
And don't forget, many if not most men who believe that "women want it" are exaggerating to themselves, too. A majority of the time women who "want it" only tolerate it, for a variety of reasons. The men who brag about the women "wanting it" are just lying to themselves to justify their boorish behavior.
I think you are deeply misled about the state of reality with celebrities if you think this is the whole story. Yes, sometimes a celebrity will assume "he/she wants it" and will do something without permission (like Kevin Spacey maybe). But *very often* they do want it, and fall all over themselves to be the sex toy of these celebs. Look up "groupie" for most any rock band and you will see what this is about. No doubt rock stars have it in a more blatant way than Hollywood celebrities do, who probably still have to 'go out with' the girl or something, rather than just dragging them backstage in a group. But yes, there are many, many men/women for whom you can not only grab them in this manner, but they want it and they love it. That
does not excuse unsolicited touching, but it is simply not true that these people are deluding themselves about what people will find ok. I have personally spoken with several women who are not in the least bit promiscuous, who despite having fairly conservative sexual mores, still admit in a pinch that they have "a list" of celebs who they would go to bed with immediately with no hesitation. Now that might still involve dinner or something and not just grabbing them in the street, and we might also suppose that this is talk but they wouldn't really do it; but many do and that's no mystery.
So when Trump brags about being aware of having the ability to grab women by the p*ssy, it is doubtless because he is an egotistical a**hole who believes that it is his right and privilege as a rich male to have women want him to touch them in their intimate places, just for fun. I mean, would you accept your minister saying something like that?
Well this may be accurate. Given what I've seen of Trump it's even likely. But that doesn't matter, because that's motive speculation of a sort where you're deciding to read his statement
as if he's already guilty of the thing you'd like to demonstrate. It's not an irrational thing to suppose he meant, but it's no more necessary a conclusion than is the conclusion that he was just marveling and what a crazy trip it is to be famous.
Just because he may not believe he can touch any woman at any time there doesn't make him that much less of a pig. And doesn't make Aris' statement a lie.
You may not have quite meant it this way, but essentially this is saying that even if he didn't mean what you think he did, he may as well have because he's guilty anyhow?
