Canadians have to be the most enthusiastic frackers ...

OK, check this out.  The Canadian government agreed to allow a scientist to pursue work to determine possible dangers to salmon due to fracking, but were so concerned with the political impact of her findings, that they not only prohibited her from talking about her work; they assigned an actual "bodyguard" to follow her around and make sure she didn't say anything she oughtn't.

Yes, the previous government unabashedly controlled all government salaried scientists, pretty much muzzling them all and only allowing those findings that supported their political agenda to see the light of day. Climate change, pollution, the petroleum industry, ecological studies... you name it, they muzzled it.

They even did away with the national census.

We're slowly recovering under the new government.
