With some Republicans regurgitating 25-year dead arguments to criminalize burning of the US flag, consider this horrid Colorado police intimidation and star chamber like arrest of a woman who had burned a Confederate flag 3,weeks earlier.

Did what? It is odd that they waited weeks, but clearly it wouldn't have been a priority. It's not like they hauled her out in irons at 3am to an undisclosed location. Don't burn *censored* in a park. Now if this story had read "woman tazed while burning confederate flag in her backyard", I might be able to summon some outrage. But really my outrage bar has been raised much higher when it comes to abuse of authority, sadly.

Also, this happened in June of last year, and the charges were dropped a few months later. Her notification to police prior to the event indicates that she wanted to get arrested for arson and must have been sorely disappointed when cops had better things to do.

I didn't post it to get anyone excited or outraged, but rather *interested.". I was unaware that burning a confederate flag was such a hot point.  I'm proposing what I thought would be a worthwhile protest. 

Calhoun was Jackson's vice president and the architect of White supremacy.  A major thoroughfare in Augusta is named after him.  What I would like to do is split the patriots from the white supremacists and neoconfederates.  A March down Calhoun street burning the confederate flag and singing John Brown's Body.

Right now the batch protesters burning the US flag in opposition to Trump sends exactly the wrong message.

Burning stuff releases dangerous carbon into the atmosphere. May I recommend trampling the flag instead, or maybe more appropriate, dragging it behind a pickup truck? That way you get to disrespect what it stands for over and over again instead of just once.

I suppose each marcher could tuck a confederate flag down the back of his or her pants, and we could fold one up with a big brown streak down the middle, but some disease would probably take us for confeds.
