A little on the flip side, what’s Trump got he can work with?
First off, the economy. Any reasonabley competent person can see the economy is beyond good, arguably the best in a generation. Real wages going up, lowest black and hispanic unemployment, record low unemployment in general, more women working than ever before, GDP is pretty solid despite the drag of rising interest rates and the rollback of quantitative easing sucking up capital. If it’s the economy, stupid, then this is a big stick to swing - assuming it lasts another 18 months.
Related, capitalism. Trump will run on this as hard as democrats run as the socialist party. It’s a winner for Trump.
Security. ISIS is gone, it’s official. He can make hay all day about border security and Democrats resisting it. North Korea ain’t exactly a success but there’s a real chance for progress that hasn’t been since the end of the war. Related, strengthing ties with Israel, peeling off the traditional jewish Democrat voters as the left enables anti-semitism.
Fake news. This is a hammer Democrats and the media gave him and have now turned into Mjolnir, the ultimate war hammer. Trump and his allies can now dismiss any negative story as fake news. I find it mind blowing the left has backed themselves into this corner. The Russian collusion hoax will be the gift that keeps giving.
Supreme Court nominations. I believe this was a significant factor last time and will be again but it can cut both ways. If Democrats are demoralized as they seem, this could put him in a good spot.
Not that he needs it but what else could put Trump back in the white House?
