Iranian elections ... sorting through the results
« on: February 28, 2016, 04:44:28 PM »
OK, I see that 30 out of 30 parliamentary seats went to the iranian moderates.  What I haven't found so far is who won on the elections for the religious assembly of guardians,

See http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-35643173

Will keep looking, and if anyone else has found info, please dish.

Ah. Here is some of it... looks like some is still unannounced:

Early results gave former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, a moderate conservative, and Mr Rouhani the most votes for the assembly, which is composed of mostly elder and senior clerics.

Why is this significant?

The 88-member assembly appoints Iran's Supreme Leader and might end up choosing a successor to Ayatollah Khamenei, who is 76 and has suffered ill-health.
